The latest McGraw-Hill FCU Financial Literacy Series seminar, “How to Apply For Student Loans and Educational Grants,” focused on the costs of higher education, strategies for paying tuition, as well as numerous other topics that showed how individuals can send their children to college in an affordable manner. A question from Diamond: How do study grants, scholarship and student loans work?
I would like to do my Masters overseas next year. I’ve read in some of the (potential) schools’ websites that they offer things like student grants, scholarships and student loans.

What are these exactly and how do they work? Which one is the best option?

Hi Mate, grants, scholar or student loan are 3 different thing but for 1 reason they exist which is to help the student.
Grant and scholar is similar, you don’t have to pay back, they work as a gift of cash.
In other hand, loan will required you to pay back, and student loans probably would not charge you interest.

A question from Grace: No student loans or government grants?
The college i want to go to doesn’t accept student loans or government grants, but the school is $ 22,000. Is there some other kind of loan i can get or does that just mean i have to pay for it on my own?
P.S- It’s Vidal Sassoon, arguably the most superior cosmetology school out there.

Talk to the school directly, and ask them if they themselves provide any sorts of loans or other funding.

I am wary of schools that don’t accept student loans or government funding. Some of them are fine – I mean, Grove City College is a great school; and they *choose* not to accept funding for political reasons. And that’s fine. But there are some other schools out there that aren’t appropriately accredited, and so they can’t get government funding – those are the ones I tend to be wary of.

So long as your school is reputable, I’m good. But you want to be cautious.
