First thing you should do is contact the finanical aid office of the school you will be attending. The should have the resources necessary to help guide you through the process of applying for federal aid, private loans and scholarships/grants. By and large federal student loans will have a much better interest rates. While they may take your credit into account they also base the aid on need and income.
Get all the financial aid you can. I am on financial aid and my credit is some what OK. Talk to the Universities financial aid office at the university you plan on going to.
I was about to lose my funding and I passed with a 2.59 in 3 classes.
When i first decided to go back to school, I talked to admissions and financial aid.
If i were you talk to financial aid.
Work at the supermarket, go to student services and ask for the student loan,
