John asked:

I live in Los Angeles, California.
I plan to go to University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC for their Social Work programme as a transfer student. Papers are already in the works.
I know it will be the best opportunity for an education I can ever get in my lifetime. No doubt about it.

However, there’s one problem.
HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO PAY FOR ALL OF THAT?

+ According to my estimates, after tuition, student fees, books, room and board, personal expenses, and provincial health insurance (my favourite part lol) will cost me around $32000 (not my favourite part) for the first year.
+ I know the FAFSA has a Federal School Code for UBC.
+ I know about the maximum FFELP Stafford Loan of $8500 subsidised and $12000 unsubsidised. But that only makes $20500! Plus the whopping interest!
+ I really don’t know anything about Scholarships and Grants.
+ I don’t know if FAFSA would give me Pell Grants, et cetera, since BC is in a different country.

If anyone could provide me any information about this matter, it would be so helpful.

Thanks! I’ll be waiting for your answers

Btw, Canada-haters, please don’t even bother answering.

How Many STAFFORD LOANS per academic year?

MSGETPAID asked:

How many stafford loans can you have per year or is it a max per year on MPN for each academic school year? If it’s a max on MPN and that school year uses the max how do you go about getting living expenses from the school year that are suppose to be included in your pell grant and stafford loan.

Can you get additional stafford loan to cover living expense? I know most schools have a Federal Supplement Education Grant for living expenses, how do you get application for this grant?
